GradGov does tons of awesome things, but some of the most awesome stuff we do is plan and host a variety of events throughout the school year for graduate students to enjoy

To start off the year, we have the Graduate Student Welcome BBQ on September 8th from 4 to 7pm at the Car Barn Patio. After three hours of free food, free drinks, and meeting other graduate students, you’ll leave feeling just like this:

And just a week after that, we have our annual Boat Cruise on September 16th from 9pm-12am. That means free food, open bar, and a night out on the Potomac. Just make sure you buy a ticket as soon as they go on sale beginning the first day of the semester. Follow us on Facebook & Twitter for a link to ticket sales and more information.

Then comes our Happy Hours at Bulldog Tavern every other Friday starting on September 23rd from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. Come early to get drink tickets, free food, and hang out with other grad students.
After a long week you’ll be like:

We also host Coffee Hours once a month. Here you can grab coffee, tea, a snack, and hang around with other grad students.

Either way, the choice to come to our coffee hours is the best choice (time and location to be announced)

To end the semester, we are having our second annual Winter Ball on December 2nd from 8pm to 12am at the Healy Family Student Center Great Room. This is a chance for you and your friends to dress up a bit, get free food, free drinks, and enjoy yourselves before finals begin. The best part is that tickets are only $10 (and $5 of that goes to charity! High five for good deeds). Cheers to the holiday season!

When we come back for Spring semester, our first event of the year is the Graduate Student Basketball Tailgate at Hill Country Barbecue Market, a few minutes walk from the Verizon Center. This year’s game is against the University of Connecticut on Saturday, January 14th and tickets are just $5. I know what you’re thinking…

If basketball isn’t your thing, you can still show your Hoya pride practically year round by joining other graduate students in the crowd cheering on Georgetown’s other sports teams! Women’s soccer, volleyball, and field hockey all offer free admission. Just show your GOCard and as a grad student, you’ll also get free admission to men’s soccer and football. Check out all of the sport team schedules at GU Hoya Athletics.

And that’s our social calendar for the year (so far), but believe you me, we have a few more tricks up our sleeve.

Follow us on social media and c
heck out our website for more updates and info on new and upcoming events.

We can’t wait to see you all there!
